A name from a boat

Kenji Arakaki's grandfather fished from a small boat called Tavoro out of Kewalo Basin. When Kenji opened the atelier, he took the name. It means nothing in any language, which he finds restful.

Twelve years as a clubmaker in a busy pro shop taught Kenji what he did not want: speed, volume and clubs sent out half-adjusted. The atelier has one bay, one bench and one client at a time.

Noelani joined in 2016 and Marcus in 2019. The diary has stayed small by choice.
